2.11 Storage Of Explosive, Combustible Or Toxic Gasses Or Substances Including Rubbish – A Client’s Guide
You should take particular care over the storage of the substances and gases that you have for your event as listed below:
PETROL: Must be kept to an absolute minimum and kept in the correct storage containers. Must be a minimum of 6 metres away from any structure and kept in a fenced-off area, not in direct sunlight and “No Smoking” as well as “Highly Flammable” signs to be displayed. This should be in an area that has no access to the public. The area should be restricted to authorised personnel only.
DIESEL: Must be kept in the correct storage containers. Must be a minimum of 6 metres away from any structure and kept in a fenced-off area with “No Smoking” as well as “Highly Flammable” signs being displayed. This should be in an area that has no access to the public. The area should be restricted to authorised personnel only.
PROPANE GAS BOTTLES (EMPTY or FULL): Must be a minimum of 6 metres away from any structure and kept in a fenced-off area, and ?No Smoking? as well as ?Highly Flammable? signs being displayed. This should be in an area that has no access to the public. The area should be restricted to authorised personnel only.
COMBUSTIBLE SUBSTANCES: Such as spare or surplus furniture, brochures etc. should be stored in a separate storage marquee. “No Smoking” signs should be displayed.
RUBBISH: Should be stored in wheeled bins or skips (preferably closed skips) at least 6 metres away from any structure. “No Smoking” signs should be displayed.
PETROL, DIESEL AND GAS BOTTLES: Should be stored in the same enclosure area. They should be kept in a separate orderly fashion and labelled each different fuel type.
You are required to have a “Fire Point” within 3 metres, but not closer than 2 metres, from the entrance of each store. These should have a minimum of 2 foam fire extinguishers and the appropriate ?Fire Extinguisher Point? label.
All storage areas are to be situated away from any and all exit routes.
